NTR provides Kemira with increased control of railway transports - 06 October 2009

More effective utilization of wagons, positioning reports throughout Europe and enhanced security in Kemiras transports of chemical products. That's what the railway forwarding agent NTR now can provide thanks to a close co-operation with Telenor Traxion.

Three times a day a unit on a railway car or container sends a report on it's position and status. The information goes directly to NTR, who receives it in a web interface for use in their own production systems.

  • We want a forwarder who is proactive in their information flow on deviations and who make possible a higher degree of utilization of the existing rolling stock, says Alex Svärd, Kemiras Logistic Sourcing Specialist.

Kemiras transports can be made more efficient and that leads in the long run to lowered capital costs. With better control on where wagons are situated and an active procedure by potential delays, the leadtime of transport of the wagons can be shortened and fewer wagons will manage the volumes of today. The actual number of wagons would be enough to manage a growth in volume at Kemira. The system also increases the security, as the control of the wagons whereabouts constantly is updated.

  • If there should occur disturbances in a transport chain we will see it and can act directly in order that the transport shall reach the end user as efficiently as possible. In contact with Kemiras end user we can also decide if a delay will turn out to be critical and if so decide on what other efforts should be made, says NTR:s newly appointed MD Johan Modén.

Telenor Traxions services and the own work with the information will also provide a better planning for the maintenance of the wagons.

Green Cargo distribute eagerly awaited catalogue from the Czech republic - 20 August 2009

There are catalogues and then there are IKEA-catalouges. This week the catalogue for 2010 have begun to land in the letter boxes throughout Sweden. The interest is high, not just from Swedes with an interest in interior decoration, but also in mass media. Green Cargo has, with the help of NTR, taken care of the transport of the catalogues from the printing place in the Czech Republic to Sweden. In total there has been 74 wagons loaded with 27 tons each.

IKEA cooperates since many years with a german printing house, which this year chose to locate the printing to one of their subsidiaries in the Czech Republic.

- This meant that we had to go through our productive apparatus, says Simon Tjerring, key account manager at MS. We turned to NTR to ensure that we had expertise on the spot, who could monitor and guarantee the quality all the way from the Czech republic until the wagons were on the ferry and safely arrived in Swedish harbour. Thereafter Green Cargo have done all the monitoring and the final transport including conveyance.

- The catalogues were printed in July and the first wagon was loaded on July 27th, continues Simon Tjerring. The last wagon left on August 7th. The flow has functioned impeccably and the catalogues are now being distributed by the Post.
